Signature Style Series

A big welcome to all you fabulous peeps coming over from Capturing Joy with Kristen Duke. I hope to meet a lot of amazing new readers today. That's one of the most exiting things about being a blogger.

I'm so thrilled to be part of this amazing series this week. Thanks so much sweet Carrie for asking me to join! Have you checked out her signature style yet? If not then I tell you that you should by clicking HERE!

I also love finding out more about all the fabulous blogs that are included in this blog hop.

Today you can also see:

I summed up my style with my living room in the board below, although there is so much more I could have picked:

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

I'm just going to pretend that y'all are new to my blog today because if you've been around for a while then you know how much I love quirky animal decor. I absolutely love the brass peacocks in my board above. They aren't mine yet, but I'd love to change that ;)

Although I recently painted an accent wall in my kitchen mint (Mint Whisper 5008-7A Valspar Reserve), I tend to keep my walls mostly neutral because I love changing out all the other colorful accents in our house frequently.

(You can buy some of the plates HERE and the kitchen pendant HERE
You can also see more of my kitchen HERE, HERE and HERE.)

Keeping the walls mostly neutral allows me the freedom to have those colorful accents.
The grey in my living room is Seashell Gray 4003-1A, the white that I used for the walls in my dining room and kitchen are Ultra White (7006-24) and the black for the accent wall in my hallway and closet are Dark Kettle Black (4011-2). They are all by Valspar and all in eggshell.

(See more of my hallway and closet HERE and HERE)

I can't live without a good black and white pattern in every room. I crave it and it's a total must. Stripes, dots, crosses and other black and white patterns, they are all there.

I love mixing metals and I don't think I will ever get sick of that. Silver, copper and gold all live happily together in my spaces.

All this extends to our backyard as well. In the outdoors I also love mixing textures, different greens and colors.

(See more HERE)

I'm pretty colorful but haven't always been like this. It took me a long time to get here. I have gotten a lot braver because I learned to just go with my instinct and to not care what other people think. I'm ok with the fact that this isn't everyone's cup of tea. But if it is also yours then you can check out my other projects HERE and my daughter's room HERE.

Why did I mix in a loafer on my "Signature Style" board up above you might ask? Well chances are you will see me wear leopard loafers if you run into me on a regular day. I just love them and the shoe pictured above is just so comfortable! I have to order another pair because my old ones are so worn down ;)

To make the circle complete for today make sure to hop on over to my friend Jessica from Decor Adventures who is first on the list.Monday:

My DIY curtains in the dining room

I know, the headline gives it away already, but do you want to see what my DIY curtains look like in the dining room instead of the bedroom? {click HERE to see tutorial}

I'm not going to write much in this post, just show a lot of pictures.

Do you spy the window insert (click HERE) where our one cat Monkey can come in and out?
I could have taken it out to stage the room but I really wanted to show you.

Click HERE to see more of my kitchen.
And HERE* for the pendant light.

HERE for the painted flower pot.
And HERE for the barstool makeover.

I really like the curtains in my dining room for now. And now I'm playing with the idea of painting the chairs black. Why oh why you ask? Well I have some black and white here and there and I also have the hallway coming into our open floor plan which looks like this if you remember.

Here is a photo to refresh your memory but you can also click over to see more if you are new around here (click HERE):

This is kind of what the chairs would look like in black:

I totally think it would flow much better, but it all might have to wait until after the summer.
And if I paint the chairs black then I might want a new rug ;) you know how it goes. right?

What do you think?

And I'm still dreaming of my gold Emil Stenjnar chandelier for this space and possibly some gold West Elm curtain rods*.

And I'm also really happy that the curtains made it to Centsational Girl's B.O.T.B (click HERE) and Curbly last week and to Apartment Therapy yesterday (click HERE to see).
