Jingle Mingle: Origami Diamond Jingle Bell Ornament

{If you want to see our Christmas home tour click HERE}

Well hello there friends. It's time for the Jingle Mingle with:

I had my project today all mapped out in my head for the Jingle Mingle and was super excited to start on it. I envisioned these adorable white origami animals. A fox, a squirrel, an owl and maybe a cat with a ribbon and jingle bells around their necks as ornaments.

I went to work cheerfully with my 7 year old daughter. Christmas music was playing, we were singing…and then that's when you hear the screech in the theme…The online instructions we found didn't work clearly. My daughter was crying because she couldn't do it. She ended up having an upset stomach and a melt down! And I was ready to rip my hair out because all I had to show for was a disheveled pile of paper and a not so cute fox.

What a mess! LOL
Then Katja from Shift Ctrl Art came to my rescue with the idea of these paper diamonds she had found on Pinterest. Loved the idea! THANK YOU!

This worked out so much better.
I'm not having an in depth tutorial either because all you have to do is head on over to DESIGN AND FORM (click HERE), make different sized diamonds according to the instructions. Then I added the bells and ribbons with a needle and thread. Just like attaching a button to clothing. THAT'S IT!

And it cost me 97 cents, because the jingle bells were from Goodwill. They were actually from 1988, ha. The paper was plain printer paper that I already had. And I also had the ribbon already but you can find that for cheap at any craft store ;)

So now I have some photos to show you how cute they actually turned out. I can totally picture an entire tree with them. Just imagine how cheap that would be.

Blowing in the wind outside. Snow everywhere!

They look great with my window ornaments.

And now:

Go check out what everyone else did. I have a feeling it will be good and thanks again Katja for saving my project ;) Friends to the rescue…yay!

DIY studded acrylic/lucite tray

Hey friends, I finally have a little project to share with you. I'm kinda really excited about this one.

I fell in love with Made by Girl's white and silver studded tray a while back. And I just couldn't let it go. So when I saw my friend Bethany's lucite tray (Dwellings by Devore) made from an acrylic shadow box frame, I knew that's what I wanted to do with my leftover cone spike studs from my pumpkin project.

So here is what I did. I went to Michaels and picked up an 11x14 acrylic shadow box frame with a 50% off coupon. It ended up being $4.32. Great price right? I already had the spike/studs which I bought HERE at Amazon .

I taped the frame with painter's tape so I could mark the distance of the studs and drill without scratching the acrylic.

I marked 1/2" from the sides and then 1" distance for each stud. Which ended up working out perfect. After drilling the holes I just screwed in the studs. That's it!

Pretty easy right? And cheap! But it ended up looking really high end. At least that's what I think ;)
I know some of you have different opinions!

I have lots of photos again:

The leopard print is just some scrapbooking paper that I also found at Michaels.

I really can't wait to use this tray for my Christmas decorations.

So what do you think? Are you hooked on studs as well?
