Desk is finished!

I gave you a sneak peek of the desk that I was working on in my last post. I'm finished!

This is what the desk looked like before:

White french provincial dresser

I removed all the hardware and stripped several layers of paint from them.
I decided to actually leave them the original gold.

stripping hardware

I sanded, primed and painted the desk a pretty shade of grey. I painted the inside of the drawers white.

Then I taped an outline on top of the desk and painted that with gold liquid leaf.

And here it is:

you can see the painted lamp here

Laura Ashley Drawer Liner

I lined the drawers with Laura Ashley Drawer Liner that I found at TJ Maxx. It looks black in the picture but is actually a pretty dark grey.

I'm really happy with the outcome, don't you think so? And now it is looking for a good home ;)

Talk to you soon fellow webbers und guten Tag.

  7. This turned out so pretty! I just finished painting a similar style desk for my sister in law. We went black and silver though. The grey and gold is really nice, too, though.

  11. I love the desk. I have a similar style desk that had a leather top that was torn, so I pulled it all off. There is a groove all the way around and two inches in on the desk top now. Any ideas about how I can finish the top off? Thanks! PS My daughter-in-law is from Kempen, Germany. She is an interpreter and Crochet genius.

    1. Wow, a crochet genius! Love it!
That's a tough one with the leather top. Could you use a peace of cork board? or do you want it to be one smooth finish?

  14. Hi there. I am doing a desk at the moment that looks very similar. Just wondering how you stripped back your handles to original gold? My ones look the same as yours before they were stripped with the green stuff?
